Branching Out

Branching Out is a series of projects offering opportunities for young people aged 16-25 with additional needs, to gain horticultural skills and work/life experience in a supported therapeutic environment.

We offer a holiday scheme for young people with a learning disability to come and try out gardening as a group activity as part of our social therapeutic horticulture programme. This year we ran a three day Easter Scheme open to all young people in Herts and Beds, with funding from Bedfordshire Charitable Trust to provide fully funded places for Bedfordshire residents (with a £15 deposit, refundable on attendance). (Full cost £75 for the three days to residents of other counties).

We hope to run another scheme like this later in the year, which is likely to be in the form of one half day or full day session each week across the summer holidays (subject to funding).

Check out our short video called “Growing Ability – Come and Try!” to find out the sort of things we do at Branching Out.
