Do you want to learn to cook in the company of other men?
Man Made Meals is a project designed to teach cooking skills, reduce social isolation and increase mental wellbeing amongst men.
Aimed at building confidence in the kitchen for men, Man Made Meals takes the form of a 6-week beginners cookery course.
Participants will:
- learn basic cooking skills,
- cook their own dishes (in pairs)
- learn more about everyday nutrition, shopping and budgeting
- eat a meal together at each session and take another home
- meet new people and get to know them

Each session will be run by two volunteer tutors (from a pool of three). John, Mike and Elaine are all experienced home cooks who enjoy cooking for themselves, for friends and for larger gatherings. None are professional chefs but they all share a passion for making and sharing good food.
We want participants to discover enjoyment and confidence in making healthy food for themselves and others, in a financially sustainable way.
When – Friday mornings – times tbc
Where – Ransoms Pavilion, Alexandra Road Hitchin SG5 1RB (carpark on Nightingale Rd)
Who – the course is open to all men, but priority will be given to older men who are carers or live alone or are otherwise in need.
We hope that Man Made Meals will build a community of men who are able to support each other. In addition to learning to cook we want to provide opportunities for men to eat together, make new friends, build confidence and improve their wellbeing.
