Crane volunteers brave the snow to take on the Pavilion!

Today marked the first day of a mutually beneficial relationship for the Triangle Garden: it was our first volunteer morning with employees from local components company Crane, of Wilbury Way. Crane’s American parent company have a very strong community ethos and we are delighted that their Hitchin branch has chosen us as their charity partner in their latest volunteering enterprise.

From now on, once a month a group of 3-5 Crane employees will take on an organised volunteer task at the Triangle Garden on a Friday morning, either in conjunction with our Friday Garden Club or independently.

This first Friday was interesting as the task we had arranged was building raised beds on the allotment, but blizzard conditions forced a last minute rethink, and we ended up preparing the interior of the Pavilion for redecoration. The Crane volunteer team did a fantastic job, supervised by Garden Club leader Steve Granger, and by the end of the morning, they’d even managed to paint the ceilings! Excellent work by all concerned and we’re looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the company.
