What a celebration! Over 80 people gathered at the Triangle Community Garden on Friday 16th May 2025 for our 25th anniversary celebration of the garden.
Staff, volunteers and gardeners, past and present, joined together in this special event, themed around the May festival of Beltane which celebrates the coming of spring with blossom, garlands, dancing and fire.
The evening began with a short tribute to Susan Dye of Nature’s Rainbow who helped create the beautiful plant-dyed bunting adorning the garden’s entrance, made especially for our 25th year, before her untimely death last autumn. It will be treasured and holds special significance for all who were involved in its creation.
Speaking to the assembled gathering, founder and Chair of Trustees Vicky Wyer gave an impassioned speech abut the pivotal role of nature in our lives and the role it plays in the therapeutic benefit of our work at the Triangle Garden. She ended by recognising the crucial role of ‘community’ in the success of the garden and its many and varied projects. Glasses were raised to 25 years of the Triangle Garden – to ‘us and nature’. During the evening guests were invited to write their favourite memories of the Triangle Garden on blossom-shaped tags which they tied to the apple trees. A list of these memories will be kept as a record.
The evening continued with a barnstorming performance by the Hicca Hoodlums morris dancers and culminated with a fire ceremony to bless the garden for the coming year. Massive thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a special evening.
